Ringing In the New Year Book Tag

Hello! Another tag today that I wasn’t actually tagged in. 😀 I saw Cristina @MyTinyObsessions post it and it looked like a lot of fun (so hey, thanks for posting it at a time my eyeballs were looking at my feed to see it :”D)

The Rules:

  1. Link to the original post (Bookmark Chronicles)
  2. Answer the questions below
  3. Tag 3-5 friends!

Best Book/Series Read in 2016

I did a whole post on this subject, so I’ll just name one of those mentioned there here.

Assassin's Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy, #1)Royal Assassin (Farseer Trilogy, #2)Assassin's Quest (Farseer Trilogy, #3)

I’m listing this series specifically because it’s the only series I started and finished this year. It had a super solid beginning, a wonderful middle and a fairly strong ending. Overall, I loved this series and it made me fall in love with Robin Hobb, the author. I’m in the progress of buzzing through the rest of her books as we speak.

Authors that you’ve recently found and would like to read more of in the new year

  • Robin Hobb, author of the Farseer trilogy shown above
  • James S. A. Corey, author of the Expanse series
  • Erika Johansen, author of the Tearling trilogy

Most anticipated book turned movie?

A Monster CallsA Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. I read this in 2015, shortly before hearing that it was to be cast as a movie. When I heard that, I got excited. When I heard that Liam Neeson was to voice the monster, I got really excited. I’m very much looking forward to seeing this movie!

Name a character that you wouldn’t mind sharing a kiss with at midnight (if there is one)

No fictional crushes this year, unfortunately. Will totally smooch my fiance though. :”D Does that count? It counts.

What’s on your TBR for 2017? (Top 5 will suffice if IT’S an extremely long list!)

Also made a post about this one too! But here are the top five:

WeaveworldA Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5)The Traitor Baru CormorantThe Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles, #1)The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1)

How many books do you hope to read in 2017?

I set a goodreads goal of 50 books, but I’d like to read more than that if I’m able. I have so many on my shelves just screaming at me to be read!

Will you participate in the Goodreads Reading Challenge (or any others)?

I am, as stated above. I’m open to others as well, but I haven’t come across any yet that strike my fancy.

Any New Year’s Resolutions? (bookish and otherwise)

Aside from my 2017 Reading Goals that I posted a few days ago, my personal goals include getting into better shape and disconnecting a bit more. By disconnecting, I mean don’t resort to my phone to fill down time, spend more time with my SO and cat and friends, so on and so forth. I want to become less dependent on technology to keep my brain busy. (This includes reading more books instead of reading the internet). Wish me luck because at the moment, I’m kind of neck-deep. It’s going to take a lot of self-discipline on my part. Maybe I’ll post updates or something every month or so to keep me motivated. Buh.

And that’s it! Happy New Year peoples. :”D Like Cristina, I tag whoever wants to be tagged. Go bananas~

Happy reading!
