Hello! I got some books this month, and I’m pretty pumped about them:
I took myself on a date this month – went to see Frozen 2, and then got coffee and went to Half Price Books, which is where the above three came from. It was nice, and I might make it a monthly or bi-monthly thing.
A Curse So Dark And Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer – Honestly I don’t know too much about this one other than it’s an angsty retelling. I’m in the mood for something like this so hopefully I’ll dig it.
The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware – This one’s a bit outside my normal genre, and while it sounded intriguing, it was going to be a library read for me… until I saw it for cheap at HPB, soooo
The Passage by Justin Cronin – To be frank, this book intimidates me. It’s big, it’s not a happy book, and… it’s big. I’ll get to this. I want to read it. But man, I am going to have to work up my courage to do it.
The Library of the Unwritten by A. J. Hackwith – This one sounds really, really good. It’s a new release but it came out immediately in paperback, something that was unexpected but super great. I prefer paperbacks when I can get them.
Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier – Finally, finally I’ll be started a Marillier book. This really should have gone into my currently reading yesterday – I’m buddy reading it with a friend – but I hadn’t technically started it when writing that, so. Needless to say, this one won’t be on my TBR for long.
Food Wars vol 1 by Yuto Tsukada – I’ve read this one, yay! And I liked it. I’ve been following this anime for a while now, and when I saw book one on the shelf, I had to grab it. I intend to collect this series here and there as I see them.
Again!! vols 1 and 2 by Mitsurou Kubo – These were utter impulse buys for me. I can’t tell you a single thing about them, other than that they were on the shelf at HPB and I think it’s some kind of sci-fi? Who knows. I hope I like it though, should be quick to get through.
Fruits Basket Another vol 3 by Natsuki Takaya – This is bittersweet. I loved Fruits Basket as a teen and with the re-release of the new anime this summer, this series has been on my mind a lot. This particular one follows the next generation of Sohmas, and this – volume 3 – is the final volume. Considering the original series was 23 volumes long, I was hoping there’d be more of this too. But I’ll take what I can get, man.
And that’s it! With Christmas coming up, my buying is gonna be limited. I plan on getting two books that I can think of – one of them a manga – but aside from that, any books I get will likely be gifts or the result of a gift card.
If you’ve read any of the above or are planning to, lemme know! Happy reading!
