Bookshelf Tour 2021!

It’s second-to-last-day-of-Blogmas! Today’s post is my updated book collection!

Overview of book room:

I’m pretty happy with how it is. The nonfiction has been moved to the hallway, and honestly most of it is my husband’s, so I’m not gonna bother going over it. For the two piles shown in the last picture, the left two are books that have been purged. I’ll be dropping them off at my sister in law’s free little library. The two piles on the right are books I’ve borrowed from friends and family.

Manga and graphic novels

You can see my 10 in 2021 books on top in that last pic there. In addition to the manga shown, I have quite a few lent out. Not shown are: Ten Count 6, Rave Master 1-10, Demon Diary 1-7, Delicious in Dungeon 1-4, Inuyasha 1-5, The Way of the House Husband 1-2, Pandora Hearts 1, Trigun 1-2, Trigun Maximum 1-4, and Tokyo Ghoul 1-4 (though Tokyo Ghoul isn’t mine – it’s my husband’s).

Fiction:

Right now, my shelves are ordered by read and unread, followed by author (more or less). The last pic is what I’m currently reading and a couple books on the back-burner. Like the manga, I also have a lot of fiction lent out. Not shown: Uprooted, The Bear and the Nightingale, House of Leaves, Assassin’s Apprentice, Assassin’s Quest, Senlin Ascends, The Traitor Baru Cormorant, The Poppy War, Six of Crows, Crooked Kingdom, King of Scars, Throne of Glass, and Isle of Blood.

And that’s it! Those are my books as of today. Tomorrow is Blogmas day Last!

Bookshelf Tour – 2019!

10 in 2019

I’m aware it’s 2020. :”D I had meant to post this in December during the main chunk of Blogmas, but I didn’t get the photos together or my bookshelves organized in time, so it’s a bit delayed. But I’ll be posting one next December too and that will be the 2020 one. So bear with me here. If you’re interested, here’s my 2018 and 2017 tours. Any that I list as missing are currently lent out.

Also I have to double-stack now. IT’S TEARING ME APART. D’:

Top 5 bookshelf collectibles

Copy of Top 5 Wednesday Banner

https://i.imgur.com/XS0XVS1.gifHello, Happy Hump Day! Today’s topic is top collectibles on the bookshelf, whether they be collectible books, decorations, etc. I’m hoping the ones that I picked turn out to be a bit unique. But who knows, I might be totally unoriginal. Onto the things!

If you would like to participate in T5W, you can do so here!

McGonagall’s wand

img_20190402_210314.jpg

I went to Harry Potter world this past October, and I picked up McGonagall’s wand! It stays in its box, because I don’t trust myself not to break it.

The Fullmetal Alchemist pocket watch

…and action figures and staff. My sister got me the pocket watch as a gift one year and I absolutely adore it. While not directly on my bookshelves, it’s on a display shelf right next to them. 3 Oct. Don’t forget.

Globe bookends

IMG_20190402_210226

These were a gift from my parents for Christmas two years ago. I had no idea something like this even existed. I almost cried when I got them though. They’re fully functioning – they spin and everything. I. Love. Them.

Sonata Arctica drumstick

Sonata Arctica is one of my favorite bands – I’m particularly a fan of their older stuff. Once upon a time, I went to their concert and was pretty damn close to the front of the stage (another time I was at the front, but that’s a different story). At the end, the drummer threw sticks he had used and yours truly caught one. You can see, it’s all beat up.

Masks

I don’t know what it is, but I really like the aesthetic of these things. I bought them a long time ago, back in 2008 or so, from a store called Earth Bound, which has since closed down, at least in my area. Man, I love these masks.

And that’s it! I don’t have too much on my shelves, but what I do have, I really like. Happy reading!

Bookshelf Tour 2018

10 in 2019

Hello! Today is an updated bookshelf tour! The last time I did one was at the end of 2017. Since then, I’ve added new ones, rearranged a bit, and purged some old ones.

I have quite a few off the shelves right now because they’re either lent out or lying around my place, so any I notice are missing will be noted. None of the books mentioned in the book haul that I posted yesterday are on the shelves yet, so none of them will be shown either. πŸ˜›

Also, I almost almost did a video. I shot the footage and everything, and Katy offered to edit it for me. But… I got camera shy at the last minute. I’m not even in it, just my voice. But still. Pictures, haha.

Nonfiction and Foreign Language

Missing: The Good Women of China

Manga and graphic novels

Missing: Mushishi vols 2-4, Fruits Basket vols 1-4, Wotakoi vol 3, Descender vol 2, Monstress vols 1-2, Chew vols 1-2, The Gigantic Beard That Was Evil

Fantasy and Science Fiction

Missing: His Majesty’s Dragon, Throne of Glass, Truthwitch, Assassin’s Apprentice, The Name of the Wind, The Knife of Never Letting Go

Horror, Contemporary, Historical Fiction, Thrillers, Classics, Magical Realism, and Literary Fiction

Missing: House of Leaves, Water for Elephants, Isle of Blood

And that’s it! I think with the new books going on, I’m going to need another case. I have two small cases right now among the collection – I might see if I can replace one or both of them with a larger case.

According to Goodreads (which… I keep mostly up to date), not including the newest books from the haul because I haven’t added them in yet, I own 707 books, 270 of which are unread. I’ll go into more detail come January, but I hope to reduce that to 250 or so by the end of 2019. Wish me luck. Ideally I’ll have unread books until I die – it’s no fun otherwise.

Happy reading!

Bookshelf Tag

Blogmas 2018

1- How many bookshelves do you have?

Eight total – five full sized and two minis in the book room, and one more mini in the office, though that’s holding solely textbooks and computer manuals

2- How many books are on your bookshelves? Or how many books you think you have?

Currently my ‘owned’ shelf on goodreads says I have 707 books, which is probably accurate-ish.

3- How do you organize your books?

By genre, followed by author

4- What is the oldest book on your bookshelf?

I have a psychology manual published in 1895! It’s pretty neat.

5- What is the newest book on your bookshelf?

Wotakoi volume 3 by Fujita! It just came out last month.

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku 3

6- What is the longest book on your bookshelf?

George R. R. Martin’s A Storm of Swords. My copy is 1179 pages.

A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3)

7- What is the shortest book on your bookshelf?

The Official Pokemon Handbook 2, coming it at 64 pages.

The Official PokΓ©mon Handbook 2

8- What is the predominant genre on your bookshelf?

Fantasy. It takes up two an a half of the large book cases

9- Have you done a bookshelf tour?

Yes, in photos. I plan on doing another one again this year… haven’t decided if doing photos or video yet, though.

10- Go on a random number generator and talk about the book that corresponds with that number.

As much as this would be fun, it’s currently 5am, and going upstairs and turning the lights on to count books would not be a wise idea. So I’m gonna grab one from goodreads: Bitch Planet by Kelly Sue DeConnick. I don’t know much about it, honestly. This was very much a ‘I’ve heard good things’ kinda of buy. I’ll get to it eventually.

Bitch Planet, Vol. 1: Extraordinary Machine

11- Do you have fan merch or any other decorations on your bookshelf?

I have a few anime plushies, and some Harry Potter merch. In storage I have more, including a Fullmetal Alchemist pocket watch. I should really get around to unpacking that stuff, man.

12- Show us your bookshelf!

13- Tag someone.

Don’t tell me what to do!

Bookshelf Tour 2017

Blogmas2017Benner

Hello! I’ve decided to do one of those bookshelf tour thingies. As I have a blog and not a youtube, this will be done through photos. πŸ˜› I’m fairly sure that each photo is clear enough that you should be able to see titles if you want. Any photo I place here you should be able to right-click and select ‘view image’ to see the full size if you need a larger view of the thing.

As I’ve mentioned (a billion times now) I moved recently. We moved from a two bedroom apartment into a three bedroom townhouse. And since it’s just my husband and I right now, those two extra bedrooms we’re using as not-bedrooms. One is our office (which is still a bunch of boxes).

The other is my uh… my library. :”D I have my own room dedicated to books! The photos you’ll see are how it looks right now. I want to get a big, comfy arm chair in there though. Right now, there’s an antique rocking chair and while it’s actually comfy to sit in, you can’t really curl up in it. So I’m on the hunt for a recliner.

Anyways, here are my books. I’ve been collecting them for two decades. Anything listed as ‘not shown’ I’m either currently reading, is lent out, or is still in a box somewhere.
