Friday Finds #7 October 23, 2015

Ignore that my last FF post was September 4th. I feel like it took me a long while to adjust to my work load this semester on top of having a job (yay money). So apologies. But otherwise I feel like I’ve picked up a good study rhythm. Friday Finds is a weekly meme hosted by A Daily Rhythm where you highlight all the books you’ve added to your to-read list in the past week For me, it’ll be longer than that this post obviously, so I’m just going to list them:

The Wonderful World of Kim PineStormdancer (The Lotus War, #1)Legacy of Kings (Blood of Gods and Royals, #1)The Accident SeasonDrift & DaggerGuylinerSAS For Dummies (For Dummies (Computer/Tech))The Perks of Being a WallflowerLittle Women (Little Women, #1)I Am the MessengerSeraphina (Seraphina, #1)Girlfriend in a ComaThe Time Traveler's AlmanacOutNot a Drop to Drink (Not a Drop to Drink, #1)Lumberjanes, Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten HolyAmerican Born Chinese14Leviathan Wakes (Expanse, #1)The Singular and Extraordinary Tale of Mirror and Goliath (The Peculiar Adventures of John Loveheart, Esq. #1)Dangerous WomenThe Mad Scientist's Guide to World Domination: Original Short Fiction for the Modern Evil GeniusBird BoxNight FilmA Torch Against the Night (An Ember in the Ashes, #2)

Considering this is a month and a half’s worth of add-ons, this isn’t too bad I don’t think. :”D Have any of you read any of these? Are there some I should prioritize over others? Let me know! Thanks!

Friday Finds #6 – September 4 2015

Guess who hasn’t written much this week. Time’s up, it’s me. Friday Finds is a weekly meme hosted by A Daily Rhythm where you highlight all the books you’ve added to your to-read list in the past week. This week I did a lot of book hunting but didn’t read nearly as many as I added. So as usual, my list of books to read has increased. Maybe I’ll read them by the time I’m dead. Maybe.

They are:

Inkdeath (Inkworld, #3)Reckless (Mirrorworld, #1)ZeroesPrisoner of Night and Fog (Prisoner of Night and Fog, #1)The Girl in 6E (Deanna Madden, #1)The Buried GiantPenpalChampion (Legend, #3)Geek LoveHereMalice (The Faithful and the Fallen, #1)When You Are Engulfed in FlamesThe Crane WifeMr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore

Pointing out the ones that are particularly striking to me:

Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke. I’ve actually owned this book for years. Years. I don’t even remember when I bought it. I’ll have to reread the first two books before I can read this one. I don’t know why I never read it, I really liked this series when I was younger. I’m just kind of afraid of rereading it and not liking it as much as I did. so this’ll be interesting.

The other one is Champion by Marie Lu. I added this before I finished book 2, but when I finally did finish it… I don’t know man. The author pulled one of those “BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE” really bad plot devices. It kinda makes me not want to read book 3. I probably will, but it’s gonna take some effort I think. Goodness. If you read this one and liked book 3, let me know, give me some encouragement.

If there are any other books you’d like to know about, do let me know. I don’t… honestly I don’t have the energy to go into the rest, haha. Classes this year are murdering me and it’s only two weeks in. And notice I still haven’t posted a favorites post yet for August. :”D I’m so behind. Today’s friday and I have a four day weekend – gonna try to get out a post or three.

Happy reading!

Friday Finds #5 – August 28 2015

Shh, ignore that it’s Saturday. Friday Finds is a meme hosted by A Daily Rhythm. The point of it is to highlight all the books you’ve added to your TBR list in the past week because honestly when else are you going to talk about them? Because if you’re like me, the length of time between adding a book to my tbr and me actually reading it can be years. Hyuck. So here we go!

There are a lot of books I’ve added this week, so I’m going to just list them, and if there are any that are particularly calling to you, just point it out and I’ll be happy to goo about it with you :”D Or if you’ve read any of these, let me know what you thought!

Everybody Sees the AntsBlue Remembered Earth (Poseidon's Children, #1)Wayward, Vol. 1: String TheoryAnnihilation (Southern Reach, #1)The Girl with All the GiftsThe Year of the RunawaysThe ChimesThe IlluminationsDid You Ever Have a FamilyThe FishermenThe Green RoadThe Moor's AccountA Little LifeUnbecomingThe SculptorThe Goldfinch

So yes, there’s a lot. For the most part I blame the Manbooker Long List for being released. There are I think 13 books on there that are vying for the Manbooker award and shocker, most of them sounded like books I would like. So a good 9 of the 16 books I’ve added are from that list.

Also, my Goodreads to-read list now has 775 books on it. I own a little over 120 of those books (yes I have that many unread books hush). Luckily for me, I don’t plan on stopping reading for the rest of my life. Now let’s hope I don’t die in a freak accident before I’m a ripe old age. Or if I do, I hope that my books get inherited by someone who really loves to read and they can complete my legacy.

Until next week, happy reading!

Friday Finds #4 – August 21 2015

There’s actually more on my list this week than last week! I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing, because I definitely added more books to my to-read list than books I added to my read list. But anyways.

Friday Finds is a weekly meme created by A Daily Rhythm where you show all of the books you’ve recently discovered. Last week my list was primarily the Amulet graphic novel series. This week I have actual books, so yayay. And we’re off:

The Archived (The Archived, #1)The Unbound (The Archived, #2)House of Rain: Tracking a Vanished Civilization Across the American SouthwestPoison Study (Study, #1)Darkfever (Fever, #1)The House of Shattered WingsThe Mirror Empire (Worldbreaker Saga, #1)Gates of Thread and Stone (Gates of Thread and Stone #1)Clipped Wings (Clipped Wings, #1)The Darkest Part of the ForestIce Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes, #2)

11 books this week! They are:

The Archived and The Unbound by Victoria Schwab. These two are not the first books I’ve seen by her, but I have yet to actually read any of them. From what I’ve heard, these are supposed to be pretty decent.

House of Rain: Tracking a Vanished Civilization Across the American Southwest by Craig Childs. I rarely add nonfiction to my list, but when I do it’s always about something weird. This is a book that tries to work out what happened to the Anasazi people. For those of you unfamiliar, these were a group of people who lived in what is present day Las Vegas-y area. Their civilization and technology rivaled that of the Mayans. And then they disappeared. Wiped off the map with no indication written or otherwise what happened to them. It’s unsettling, and I want to know more.

Poison Study by Maria V Snyder. As of yet, I have heard nothing but positive things about this one. Looking forward to it. (and the cover is so pretty!)

Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. I’ve decided to try urban fantasy :”D

The House of Shattered Wings by Aliette De Bodard. This one takes place in a post-biblical-apocalyptic Paris. I’ve read a fair few post-apoc books, but very few if any set after the biblical apocalypse. People tend to shy away from it for some reason. I think it’s terrifying and fascinating. But mostly terrifying.

The Mirror Empire by Kameron Hurley. All I know about this one is that it’s a fantasy that does a bit of gender-role reversal. The women in this novel supposedly are more aggressive than the men, the ones that lead tactical war, etc. I’m hoping it’ll be really good :”D

Gates of Thread and Stone by Lori M Lee. Honestly, this was a cover book for me. No idea what it’s about other than it’s fantasy. The cover made me want to read it.

Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting. I actually think this is a new adult. Not sure. This was another blind-add.

The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black. I’m late on the bandwagon for this one. Looking forward to it regardless though!

Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch. This is the sequel to Snow Like Ashes, which I rated and reviewed earlier this summer. I’m sooo excited for this next book!

And that’s it for me for this week! Also, completely unrelated, but an Ulta just opened up in my town. I’m so excited. My favorites post for August should have some fun things in it.

Friday Finds #3 – August 14 2015

Friday Finds is hosted by A Daily Rhythm. Here I will highlight all of the books I’ve added to my to-be-read list since last Friday. This week, it was slim pickings compared to last week. I haven’t been on goodreads much @@

Amulet vol 2-7 by Kazu Kibuishi
This week, I rented volume 1 from the library and fell in love with the art style. The story is decent so far, but the art is wonderful. I’m going to try to find the rest at my library next time I go back.

Amulet, Vol. 2: The Stonekeeper's Curse (Amulet, #2)Amulet, Vol. 3: The Cloud Searchers (Amulet, #3)Amulet, Vol. 4: The Last Council (Amulet, #4)Amulet, Vol. 5: Prince of the Elves (Amulet, #5)Amulet, Vol. 6: Escape From Lucien (Amulet, #6)Amulet, Vol. 7: Firelight (Amulet, #7)

Other than that, the only thing I’ve added to my goodreads list this week is City of Ember by Jeanne DePrau

The City of Ember (Book of Ember, #1)

Aaaand that’s it for my really really short Friday Finds. Hopefully next week’s post will be more involved like last week’s one. Happy reading!

Well, that’s all folks. I really need to quit finding new books faster than I can read them. What did you find this week?

Friday Finds #1 – July 31 2015

Hello! This is a new kind of post for me. I found it on Analee’s page and it’s a weekly meme hosted by A Daily Rhythm where you highlight the books recently added to your TBR (because personally for me, the books I’ve added aren’t gonna be read for years to come and I won’t have a chance to talk about them otherwise, let’s be real here). I’ve noticed that people seem to just highlight all the books added since their last FF post, but since this is my first, I’m going to highlight the previous 10 added, and then follow the normal pattern next week. (and if I’ve added any books in a sequential series, they’ll count as one. :P)

Also, have you read any of these? How were they!
