Pixar Book Tag! (Original)

Luxo-Logo

Hello! Here is an original book tag created by Shivii at Shiviigoesrawr and myself. Her post will be up shortly if it isn’t already, and this post will be edited to link to her original post as well! This tag was her brain child, not mine. I’m just lucky enough that she asked me to work on it with her :”D So thank you for providing me this opportunity – I really appreciate it!

Toy Story – A book where you wanted the characters to come to life.

Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1)For this one, I’m going with Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. I first read this series when I was 10 or so – this book was as much as my childhood as Harry Potter was. I lost count how many times I’ve reread it. Particularly, I want to be friends with Butler. He just seems like such a cool guy. For those who haven’t read this series, Artemis Fowl is a young adult or middle grade (depending on who you ask) series about a 12 year old criminal genius named Artemis who captures a fairy and holds her for ransom. Butler, the character I mentioned, is Artemis’s bodyguard. When I was younger, I’d day dream about completing schemes and adventures with Artemis and Butler. I thought about it as often as going to Hogwarts, haha. So Butler was and is definitely a character I’d like to meet in real life.

A Bug’s Life – Big beautiful butterfly. Name a character that goes through a wonderful transformation or Ella Enchanteddevelopment arc

Ella from Ella EnchantedAt the beginning of the novel, Ella is a rather bland character. She’s cursed with always having to be obedient as honestly doesn’t seem to be that upset about it. Like if it were me I’d deal with the stomach aches and so on that came with trying not to listen to every single command ever given. But she just kinda goes along with it but has a ‘woe is me’ attitude. By the middle of the end and definitely towards the end, she definitely realizes her attitude about it sucks and actually tries to do something about it. She makes decisions for herself, she stands up for herself… it’s wonderful. This book I first read when I was ten or eleven, around the same time as Harry Potter and Artemis Fowl and I’ve lost count of the rereads for this one, too. I highly recommend it to young girls looking for something positive to read. Also, don’t watch the movie. It’s horrid.

Monster’s Inc –  Name a book where a strong or scary character develops a soft spot for someone else.

This one is easy peasy and he happens to be one of my favorite characters ever because of it. :”D I’m picking Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha. Inuyasha is set in Feudal Japan when all of the Japanese mythology of demon spirits and magic were prominent. Sesshoumaru is the main character Inuyasha’s older brother. He is the Lord of the Western Lands, a ruthless killer and his personality is an ice cube. He loathes humans due to family history and in the canon universe, barely tolerates Inuyasha, who is half human. And then, when once recovering from an injury and unable to move, he runs across a little human girl. Through a set of circumstances he ends up taking this girl as his ward. Let me tell you, my heart melted. I would love a side-series focused on Sesshoumaru and Rin (the little girl). It would be so awesome.

Finding Nemo – P. Sherman 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney. Name a book that has an address or other quote within that’s been burned into your memory forever.

“I’ll be in my room making no noise and pretending I don’t exist.”

Take a wild guess.

The Incredibles – Name the coolest book family.

This one is super easy! The Weasleys! I’d love to be a part of their family or even a friend of the family. I feel like we’d all get along swell. :”D

Cars – 1,2 and now 3. Name a book that keeps getting sequels that you feel are not needed.Artemis Fowl (Artemis Fowl, #1)

As much as I hate to admit since I already used it as a good book, I’m going to say Artemis Fowl again. The first three to four books are pretty good. After that though man. I feel like Eoin Colfer loves his characters too much to stop writing about them and it’s resulting in flat plot lines. I mean the characters are still good as ever, but the plots got weird.

Ratatouille – Name a book whose main character is not a human nor a humanoid figure.

Island of the Giant Pokemon (Pokemon Chapter Book, #2)It took me a lot longer to come up with an answer for this question than I had anticipated. I kept coming up with characters that were angels or demons or some kind of animal morph – all were bipedal, wore clothes, etc. It was a while before I remembered that Pokemon exists. So I chose Island of Giant Pokemon by Tracey West. :”D The main characters are pokemon! So there!

I’m noticing I’m choosing a lot of books I read when I was little. I guess I must be in a nostalgic mood or something.

.

Wall-E – Name a book that made you feel lonely. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

I’m choosing The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. If you’ve read this book and it didn’t rip your soul a little bit, make you isolate yourself for an hour or two, cry into a pillow, well… you just might not be a human.

If you’ve never read this book, I highly recommend it. It follows a young boy who is the son of a Nazi general running a concentration camp during WW2. This boy meets another boy on the other side of a fence one day and develops a friendship. This book is just… crippling. Heartbreaking.

Up – Name a book whose characters you became very quickly emotionally invested in.Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 1 (Fullmetal Alchemist, #1)

I really grew attached to the characters from Fullmetal Alchemist very quickly. I feel it was a combination of how they were characterized, how expressions showed on their faces in the manga and generally the struggle they were putting through from the get-go. The Elric Brothers are emotional beacons for me, haah.

Brave – Name a book with a strong mother/daughter relationship

Fruits Basket, Vol. 1 (Fruits Basket, #1)Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya. This series is about a young girl whose mother passes away, and after losing her home and being discovered living in a tent in her schoolmate’s backyard, is taken into their home to live. This family though has a secret that she soon discovers, mainly when one of them turns into a rat by mistake. This is a wonderful series, btw. It’s very heart warming and makes me nostalgic.

Anyways, the mother-daughter relationship as I’ve said is between the main character Tohru, and her mother, who is passed away. Through a series of flashbacks and Tohru talking to her mom’s picture, one can see their relationship was wonderful, strong and loving. It was so nice to see a strong parent-child relationship, even if just through flashbacks. I highly recommend this series.

Inside Out – Name a book that you would say could be one of your core memories.

Harry Potter, of course :”D PS. I totally pre-ordered the illustrated edition, and it’s been released! So hopefully it’ll show up soon :”D

  2. This is so cool and fun to read! Thanks for tagging me. I agree with you on the Elric brothers. I got attached to them too. Almost, almost cried over a few episodes. I’ll be sure to do it…not any time soon though since my laptop is down.
