Hello folksies. :”D It’s not October anymore. It’s November now. TIME FOR TURKEY. In October, I read four books. Not as much as I have been reading but honestly it’s sort of a more normal pace for me, especially since none of those were graphic novels.
They were:
And I wrote reviews on two of them. :”D
Here is the review of The Fold by Peter Clines
Here is the review of Walk On Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson.
Dumplin, I didn’t review, but I enjoyed it. I gave it three and a half stars. I feel like the hype got to me on this one, which made me like it a good deal less. I guess I expected… more. This book while entertaining, wasn’t much else. It was a light read with an uncommon main character. The writing was fine and the plot was fine. But it just kinda happened and then it was over. Nothing really stuck out, if that makes sense. Nothing pulled at my heart strings or made me laugh or cry or feel any kind of emotion, which is something I look for in a five or four star book.
An Ember on the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir on the other hand, was wonderful. I didn’t review it either (though I should have) but I really, really enjoyed this one. Easily 5 stars. I liked both of the main characters, the plot, the setting… the writing was very gripping. The hints of magic in the story too were enjoyable and I have a feeling that we’ll be seeing more of it in the next book. This book was marketed as a stand-alone originally, which is goofy. There is no way. The second book has since been announced and I’m waiting for it impatiently.
And that’s it for October. My TBR Jar Challenge was to read and then watch a book and it’s film adaption. I watched the Martian, but I read it in September or August so I don’t think it counts. So I failed that one, hah.
For November, I’m currently reading the following:
Notice a few of those have been on there for a few months now, namely the first three. I’ll get to them, I swear.
Otherwise, I’ve rented a couple books from the library to read, one of which I’m gonna make a post about, so I’m not going to mention them just yet. My TBR Jar pick is also yet to be decided (I’ll post what it is in my next post. Can’t access jar at the moment).
And that’s it! :”D How was your October? Planning anything special for November?
Happy reading!
